AN EARLY NEW YEAR'S EVE

On Thursday, December 29th, we attended a 'pre-New-Year's-Eve' dinner at the Three Tomatoes Steakhouse & Club at Fossil Trace Golf Club in Golden.  It was a special five course, wine-paired dinner offered at what we thought was a very reasonable price.  Chef Denis Hynds presented an elegant and sumptuous offering, and the Simi wine company provided generous portions of their wines.

First Course  Roasted Butternut Squash Soup, Chevre Chive Crostini,  accompanied by oven fresh bread with special salt, pepper and garlic.  Sauvignon Blanc

Second Course  Hazelnut Crusted Monkfish, Poached Pear Risotto, Coconut Creme.  Chardonnay

Third Course  Seared Venison Loin, Sweet Potato Puree, Pomegranate Reduction, Pistachio.  Merlot

Fourth Course  Coffee Rubbed Pork Tenderloin, Fennel Arugula Salad, 24 Hour Tomato, Parsnip Potato.  Cabernet Sauvignon

Fifth Course  Chocolate Lava Cake, Passion Fruit Coulis, Creme Anglaise.  Cabernet Sauvignon

Everything was excellent!  And even though I am not a big chardonnay fan, the Simi 2008 was outstanding.  And the pork tenderloin topped the food list.  h/t to Chef Hynds and the competent staff.

I'm just a teeny bit unsure. One measly pistachio in its gaping pale shell?

Ha! I suppose that a bit more explanation would have been nice, eh? :-) The pistachio was used in the reduction, and to use a phrase favored by Chef Hynds 'to work at a balance of the acidity' in the combination of the course with the wine [whatever - it was tasty!]

I had hamburgers, potato chips, fruit salad, banana split, Christmas cookies, and Crystal Lite to wash it down with. Go sic those one percenters, Obama!

Look at it this way, 99, you were probably much less likely to end up with diarrhea than the one percenters dining on high fallutin' fare.

Look at this way, 99. There is no such thing as a 1 percent. There is a 53 percent, the makers, who work and pay taxes, and there are the takers, the 47 percent who pay no taxes. So rather a nation of i percent vs. the 99 percent, we are a nation of the 53 percent vs. the 47 percent - makers vs. takers.

I am for certain commentors making a New Year's resolution to stay on topic.

Maybe that will be one of Bizzy's resolutions :-)
